Philanthropy
From the time of our founding, Alpha Delta Pi has believed in the importance of giving back to our community. A dedication to philanthropy guides our members to spend time in the service of those who need it most. Our international organization’s commitment to Ronald McDonald House Charities has led to the donation of over $15,000,000 over the course of our partnership. More than 350 Ronald McDonald Houses in 64 countries help keep families with seriously ill or injured children together when they need it most by offering them a comfortable, temporary residence in proximity to a medical facility.
We are lucky enough to have a Ronald McDonald House within walking distance from campus and it allows us the unique opportunity to be hands on with our philanthropy.
Alpha Delta Pi at the College of Charleston participates in multiple different philanthropic events throughout the year to raise money for our philanthropy, Ronald McDonald house.
- One of the main events and arguably the most fun is our Pie a Pi. The entire campus community comes together to Pie our members. All proceeds raised through the Pies are donated to the Ronald McDonald house.
- We also hold an event called “King of the Jungle” each fall, focused on raising money to support our philanthropy. This past year, we held a game competition that involved other Greek organizations playing corn hole, egg toss, and other outdoor games. Our Philanthropy Chair created the “Lion Bowl” which was a flag football competition for a good cause. On top of those other events, we’ve held a catered dinner at the house and a boutique pop-up shop. All of the proceeds from the events went towards the Ronald McDonald House, and just that week alone we raised a total of more than $2,000 dollars!
- Alpha Delta Pi has a strong relationship with the Ronald McDonald House and we are lucky enough to be invited to the house around once a month to cook a meal for the families staying there. These meals involve a Valentine's Day brunch, spaghetti dinners, and taco nights.
- Our sisters also make holiday cards for the families of Ronald McDonald House at our weekly meetings.
