College of Charleston
From the time of our founding, Alpha Delta Pi has believed in the importance of giving back to our community. A dedication to philanthropy guides our members to spend time in the service of those who need it most. Our international organization’s commitment to Ronald McDonald House Charities has led to the donation of over $15,000,000 over the course of our partnership. More than 350 Ronald McDonald Houses in 64 countries help keep families with seriously ill or injured children together when they need it most by offering them a comfortable, temporary residence in proximity to a medical facility.
College of Charleston’s Alpha Delta Pi sorority is lucky enough to have a Ronald McDonald House within walking distance from campus, and it allows us the unique opportunity to be easily hands-on and involved with our philanthropy. At the College of Charleston, Alpha Delta Pi participates in multiple philanthropic events yearly to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. One of the main events, a fan favorite and arguably the most fun, is our Pie a Pi. The campus community comes together to Pie our Alpha Delta Pi members.
All proceeds raised through the Pies are donated to the Ronald McDonald House. Our chapter members also take pride in collecting pop tabs. Pop tabs are the piece of metal on the top of a can. These small metal pieces have a significant impact on the Ronald McDonald House. These pop tabs are collected and melted down to aluminum. The money earned from this is used to power the house’s facilities to make it a comfortable environment for the families. Our chapter members had a sisterhood Pop Tab Jar Decorating Event this past year. This event is a fun way to create an incentive to collect pop tabs and an excellent way to get our sisters together for fun! Last but certainly not least, our chapter participates in Meals that Heal. Making these meals for the families is an interactive way to get chapter members hands-on with RMH. Meals that Heal allows our sisters to make meals for the families staying at the house while their children are in medical care. It is a fantastic way for our sisters to create memorable connections with these families. We have lots of exciting plans for RMH in the upcoming spring. We plan to host our annual silent auction during parent’s weekend and will donate all the funds raised to RMH and many more exciting events we have up our sleeve! The Ronald McDonald House is truly the heart of our sorority, and we are grateful we have so many thoughtful chapter members who dedicate their time to our philanthropy.
